Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve answered some of the most asked questions by our devotees to guide you better on our sacred services and offerings.
1. What is Tripindi Shraddha, Pitru Puja, or Pitra Dosh Puja?
Tripindi Shraddha is a sacred Vedic ritual performed for the peace and salvation of departed ancestors, especially those who have not received proper Shraddha rites for three consecutive years or more. It is a powerful remedy for Pitru Dosha, a condition believed to arise due to the dissatisfaction of ancestors when their rituals are not conducted correctly or regularly. This puja helps to appease their souls and eliminate the negative effects caused by Pitru Dosha on the lives of their descendants.
2. Why is Tripindi Shraddha Performed?
Tripindi Shraddha should be performed if any of the following issues are observed, which may indicate the presence of Pitru Dosha:
• Delays or obstacles in professional work.
• Prolonged illness in a family member.
• Constant mental stress and unrest.
• Business failures or financial instability.
• Lack of growth in income.
• Frequent losses in business ventures.
• Continuous disputes within the family.
• Marital discord or separation.
• Delay in marriage.
• Issues related to childbirth or childlessness.
• Disruption in family lineage.
• Lack of peace at home.
• Improper development of children.
• Difficulty in securing employment.
• Decline in social reputation.
3. What is the Best Time to Perform Tripindi Shraddha Puja?
Tripindi Shraddha can be performed on Panchami, Ashtami, Ekadashi, Trayodashi, Chaturdashi, or Amavasya tithis. The auspicious months include Shravan, Kartik, Poush, Magh, Phalgun, and Vaishakh (both Shukla and Krishna Paksha).
Pitru Paksha (Mahalaya) is especially favorable for this puja. The period between September 16th and November 15th, when the Sun transits through Virgo and Libra, is highly auspicious. It is believed that during this time, the ancestors can descend to Earth, making Tripindi Shraddha more effective.
For personalized guidance on the correct tithi based on the date of death, please contact the Kashi Moksha Foundation for a free consultation.
